Our Hiring Process

Stage 1

Review of Application

Your online application has been received and the hiring panel will review your anonymised application (this has been done automatically by the applicant tracking system) in due course.

We will always let you know if you are being moved to the next stage of the process, or if unfortunately we are not taking your application further at this time.  Due to the very high number of applications received, we are unable to provide individual feedback at application stage, if you have not been successful.

If you require any reasonable adjustments to assist with the application process, please email recruitment@sfc.ac.uk
Stage 2

Panel Interview via Teams

If the hiring panel believe your application evidences the necessary skills and experience for the role, we'll invite you for an interview.
As part of the invite to interview, we will ask about any reasonable adjustments which may be required such as having a support person with you, having extra time to answer questions, the questions being added to the chat feature in Teams or something else.  We are happy to assist with any reasonable request.

We always provide a minimum of 7 days notice of interviews, as most roles will ask candidates to conduct a short presentation or task and respond to questions regarding their experience in a STAR format.
We will provide the non-technical questions for interview to all candidates, a minimum of 24 hours in advance of interview.

The recruitment process for most roles, will only involve 1 online interview (with 3 panelists), which will generally last no more than 60 minutes.

After the interview, within a few days, all candidates will be advised of the outcome and provided personalised feedback.
Stage 3

Verbal Offer

Once a candidate has been identified by the Panel, a member of the HR team will reach out to make a verbal offer, which includes all the terms and conditions of employment.  Once discussed, this will be followed up with a written offer.
Stage 4

Written Offer of Employment

Once the written offer is in place, the candidate has up to 2 weeks to accept the offer.

If the offer is accepted, SFC will provide a contract of employment, confirm your start date and take you through the new employee onboarding process.  We will also ask for evidence of the right to work in the UK, a criminal background check (level 1) and take up references.
